The Proposal of Reproduction Privacy Plans

In 2022, the Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court. 24 states implemented the abortion bans. Millions are not only women, but people are being denied access to critical healthcare and they are being denied the right to make decisions about their own body. People thus have to make sacrifices for themselves and make decisions as to whether they are going to travel outside of the state to seek care, self-manage the situation, or follow through on the unwanted pregnancies. The Biden administration is now working on a proposal for the protection of patients and their privacy for those seeking reproductive healthcare. HIPAA’s ability to secure reproductive rights is fairly limited at the moment. This comes from the Supreme Courts decision of overturning Roe v. Wade and this since it has become a criminal issue, HIPAA can not violate the laws. The Biden administration knows what steps they’re able to take to protect the reproductive health care services as well as work to propose a new plan to implement more care to those seeking abortions. As of now there are a variety of methods for them to do until this plan is implemented which can benefits those who are struggling, those in the military service, beneficiaries, and other federal employees.

Faculty Perceptions on Using Retrieval Practice to Learn Medical Terminology

Retrieval practice is one of the most widely studied cognitive science principles for improving long-term memory. Academic studies indicate that students who use passive study techniques are less likely to perform well on exams and retain course content in long-term memory than students who use more active study strategies such as retrieval practice. This presentation will center around data from interviews of a purposive sampling of eight college faculty who taught college-level medical terminology, which revealed that faculty perceived retrieval practice quizzing to be effective in improving exam scores and helping students commit course material to long-term memory when learning medical terminology.

Electronic Prescription Through EHR and National Prescription Adoption in Selected States: A Public Policy Impact on the Quality of Care

Purpose: This research aimed to investigate the correlations between e-Prescription through EHR and national e-Prescription adoption in selected states. It looks at how public policy initiatives could have influenced the quality of care through electronic prescribing.

Methods: Pearson correlation in RStudio was used to determine correlations between variables. Results: The correlation coefficient for both higher and lower-ranking states ranged from 0.98 to 1, P< 2.2e -16.

Conclusion: E-Prescription through EHR positively correlated with national e-Prescription adoption in selected states. Public policy supporting e-Prescription adoption and e-Prescription through EHR could impact the quality of care.

Keywords: ePrescription, ePrescription adoption, quality care, quality care outcomes, EHR, public healthcare policy.

Consumer Health Informatics: A Study of the Telehealth Environment and Collection of Social Determinants of Health, Pre- and Mid-Pandemic

Background: Before COVID-19 telehealth was already in existence as a means to deliver healthcare remotely. During COVID-19 research has proven telehealth became a way of delivering care to reduce risk of exposure to disease within the in-person care environment.

Objective: This study was done to research the collection of social determinants of health (SDOH) data and telemedicine in 2018 and 2021. It evaluates a lens into whether telehealth visits have impacted the collection of SDOH data by healthcare providers. This study aimed to assess and analyze whether the care environment of telehealth increased the collection of SDOH data during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study has a focus on data that can reveal if increasing use of telehealth during the pandemic has a correlation with increasing collection of SDOH data in the consumer health informatics (CHI) discipline.

Keywords: COVID, pandemic, Social Determinants of Health, SDOH, telehealth, telemedicine, Consumer Health Informatics, CHIDescription TBD
