Maximizing Your Presence on Access

by Tonya Bates, RHIA

Access is the forum on the AHIMA website that is to be utilized as the mode of communication and resource platform.  During the 2022 Leadership Symposium, during the Maximizing Your Presence on Access session, we were provided with ways in which CSAs can maximize their presence, not only on AHIMA’s Access page, but also on social media platforms.  Each CSA should maintain a content calendar within Access.  It was suggested that Canva be used to make the content more visually appealing.  Access should be used to recognize newly credentialed members, new members, AHIMA campaigns, virtual Happy Hours and scholarship information.

The content calendar can be created with an Excel calendar template.  If the CSA has a business account on social media platforms, they can see the analytics reports to see which posts are getting the most reactions to help capitalize and strategize.  The use of graphics and videos are also very appealing to audiences.  Board members should be asked to make contributions of content as well.

Social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are essential in the success of CSAs.  Facebook and Twitter both have features that can help to plan ahead. CSAs must be very active on social media to be effective.  It was recommended that CSAs should have a committee to write the content and do the posting on social media platforms.  Access and social media content should be the same.

I enjoyed the presentation but personally find Access to be difficult at times to maneuver through.  The difficulty usually occurs when I’m in a hurry and looking for something specific.  It may just be user error. 😊
