Celebrating OHIMA’s 2021 Achievement Award Recipients!

Congrats to OHIMA’s 2021 Achievement Award Recipients!  OHIMA is honoring the following individuals this year: 

Distinguished Member - Deanna Mandley, RHIT, CDIP, CCS, CCS-P

Dee Mandley has been in the HIM field for 35 years.  She graduated from Stark State College with an associate degree in applied science and holds an RHIT credential.  Since then, she has held various management positions within hospitals, review organizations, and HIM consulting firms.    She has held positions of president and director on the executive board of OHIMA.  Dee also holds the credentials of CCS, CCS-P, and CDIP.  Dee served on the CCS and CCS-P construction committees for AHIMA.  She has written several online training courses for OHIMA and has shared her knowledge through public speaking on a variety of topics. In 2004, Dee began her own consulting firm, D. Mandley & Associates, LLC, offering coding audits, coding education, coder cross-training, and remote coding assistance. 


Professional Achievement
- Nilgun Sezginis, PHD, MPH, RHIA, CCS-P

Nilgun Sezginis is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P), and AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. She is a full-time faculty and program director at the University of Toledo. Her areas of expertise in health care include acute & ambulatory care classification systems, reimbursement methodologies, documentation requirements, compliance, and audit process. She developed and reviewed test items for the national RHIA certification and CDIS exams. She also wrote online ICD-10-CM/PCS activities and exercises for Pearson Education as the Subject Matter Expert.

 


Ambassador to Education
- Karen Salchli, RHIA

Karen Salchli has over 30 years of experience working in Health Information Management in many different areas.  She completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2007. She also completed her RHIA certification in December 2007.  She currently works at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a Manager in HIM and oversees students’ Professional Practice Experience for the department.
